I really applaud that you put a technological assertion to the test.

The problem I have is further assertions that although Blackle is ineffective on LCD, it causes people to think about implementing small changes. That sounds nice and maybe true, but until put to the test (statistical studies) is also just a nice idea.

A great piece of analysis of a dubious claim. Yes Blackle will save you energy IF you use CRT like most of us don’t now.

But a way to promote green thinking, I’m nit so sure. If you can use Blackle without critical thought as a reminder to be green in little ways, you may fall for other dubious green claims; recycling paper for example.

This may be a dumb question, but does an LCD monitor use less energy than a CRT?

I like using the Carbon Neutral Search Engine it uses Google Custom Search but offsets a minimum of 100g of CO2 per search, so its not just promoting the green thinking but giving a little back
